Jennifer Garner announced on social media that her father, William John “Billy” Garner, passed away quietly on Saturday. He was eighty-five. William earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University. Union Carbide was his next employer.
After over 60 years of marriage, Jennifer, her sisters Susannah and Melissa, and their mother Pat were extremely proud of their father. Jennifer commented, “My dad died in peace on Saturday afternoon,” with a lot of sadness. Before he went, we sang “Amazing Grace” together. He lived a long, robust life at the age of 85. His passing is not tragic, but I am aware that I will experience grief.
